John Atkin

John Atkin is a British sculptor whose work explores movement, structure and the relationship between sculpture and place. A formative moment in his early career came through meeting Henry Moore, whose personal support enabled Atkin to undertake postgraduate study in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art as a Henry Moore Scholar, studying under Professor Phillip King CBE, himself a former assistant to Moore.

Atkin has since developed an international practice encompassing public sculpture, drawing and large-scale commissions across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Recent landmark works include Heirloom in Guangzhou and Confluence at One Shenzhen Bay, alongside Strange Meeting, commissioned for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Cultural Olympiad and permanently installed in Beijing Olympic Park.
